Biography
Nadia Spurlock (she/her/hers) is a 2019 graduate of Omaha North High School. She plans to use her education to end mass incarceration and excessive criminal punishment against African Americans. She believes in challenging racial discrimination in the court of law, and ensuring that the basic Civil Rights of minorities are protected. This passion and purpose is evident through the organizations she is a part of. At Omaha North, she served as the President of the Black Student Leadership Council, Vice President of the 2019 Senior Class, Captain of the Golden Vikings dance team, and a member of the National Honors Society as well as the Nebraska College Preparatory Academy. In her community, she interns with the Nebraska Democratic Party, is the Youth of the Year at the North Omaha Boys and Girls Club, and is a 2019 Young, Black, and Influential award recipient in the Youth category for Advocacy. Nadia has also took her activism and “Black Girl Magic” across the country to attend the 2018, At The Well Young Women’s Leadership Conference, at Princeton University and 2018, “We Vote Next” Summit in Los Angeles, CA. She is now attending the University of Nebraska at Lincoln on a full academic scholarship. Following graduation, Nadia then plans to go to the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University to become a Civil Rights Attorney.
